A Breath of Fresh Air...
Growing up in a household that made fresh meals cooked from scratch each day, flavoursome healthy foods have always been a staple part of my diet. I've always enjoyed cooking and made a conscious effort to eat healthily, yet in this past year since giving up smoking I've taken my passion for cooking and nutrition to another level.
Friends and family were always shocked to discover that I smoked. Despite all of my health efforts - eating well and exercising regulaly - I counteracted it all by sucking on those cancer sticks!
Thank god now, after 10 years of smoking, I have pulled together enough will power to quit... and I havent looked back! It was a huge turning point in my life. My mind suddenly flipped, as though a switch had flicked on. All I could think about is how healthy I could become.
As my body naturally started to purge itself of the toxins I’d been forcing inside it for the last 10 years, I began to really think about what I was putting in to my body to replace it.
My journey and experience over the past year have taught me a lot...we can’t afford to abuse our bodies. We must nurture our bodies and treat them with the respect they deserve. If we do this we will be rewarded with good health, increased energy levels and clear and positive mind.
As I've developed as a cook I have been gradually drawn into questioning and researching the science of nutrition. I'm forever cooking and experimenting with natural, organic ingredients, superfood powders and raw foods. I've switched to organic food wherever possible, and also try to buy locally produced goods and ingredients.
